December 10th, 2015

It's the seventh episode of After the Anthem, and Draft season is upon us. The lads preview the Re-Entry draft for all three Canadian teams, and who they should look to pick up during the draft and free agency.

Then it's on to an extended discussion about Canadian soccer. This week Don Garber talked about Canadian roster rules, so the guys discuss how to get Canadians more playing time in Major League Soccer.
Canada's interest in bidding for the 2026 World Cup was also reenforced early this week. The guys debate what a World Cup would mean for Canadian soccer and whether not it is feasible.
Finally, Canada's U-20 women's squad is ripping it up in World Cup qualifiers, but can they get over the final hurdle?

After The Anthem Episode #4: Decision Day, Knockout Round and Kitty FIFA

October 28th, 2015

For the third time in as many weeks the host on After the Anthem changes as, with Arslan Siddiqui still MIA, Last Word on Sport's Michael Norton takes over the hosting duties.

The show starts with decision about MLS decision day, and why it was such a brilliant move for Major League Soccer.
Then it's on to the "biggest" match of decision day, which was the Montreal Impact against Toronto FC. The lads review that before talking at length about their playoff rematch tomorrow.
Vancouver gets some love as well for their incredible performance against Houston on Decision Day, and for being Canada's best hope of the winning the 2015 MLS Cup.
Finally, it's time to take referees as the official for the Canada-Honduras World Cup qualifier in November was replaced, while a familiar face will be officiating the TFC- Impact knockout round game.

After the Anthem Episode #3: The 401 Derby, The Falling Whitecaps and TV Broadcast Rights for Trees

October 21st, 2015

With Arslan Siddiqui unavailable for a mysterious reason, Mitchell Tierney of Waking the Red takes over the hosting job as he and Michael Norton recap the week in Canadian Soccer.

Things start with an impromptu discussion about who is the Arnold Schwarzenegger of Major League Soccer ahead of MLS Judgement day... err Decision Day. This then bleeds into talk about the biggest match of that day: the Montreal Impact vs. Toronto FC. At the end of it, one of the two will host a playoff game for the first time in their history.
The same could be true of the Vancouver Whitecaps if they break out of their current slump. The guys preview their last match of the season against the Houston Dynamo, and whether or not they think the Caps are a threat in the playoffs.
Then it is on to the Canadian national team, where the lads discuss how important it is that the next round of World Cup qualifying be shown on mainstream Canadian TV.
