It's here, it's finally here! The 2017 MLS season is upon us fam! Matt Pollard, Joe Hojnacki, and John Bava are here to break it all down.
In the first segment, the guys do a full playoff prediction. We pick who we think is going to make the playoffs and who won't. We talk about why our non-playoff teams will miss out. The guys also give their playoff seeding predicitions. Spoiler alert, FC Dallas and Toronto FC might roll.
In the second segment, the guys talk trophies and individual awards. We talk about the current CONCACAF Champions League taking place. We then pick our Supporter's Shield, U.S. Open Cup, and MLS Cup champions. Then the guys roll through individual awards.
In the Round Table, we make absolute fools of ourselves. We pick serious upsets for the U.S. Open Cup. Matt has Cozmo driving a taco truck around the StubHub Center. Joe has Wayne Rooney coming to MLS in the summer and killing it. And John's got a bold personnel prediction.

Happy Week of Valentine’s Day soccer fam? Too much? Yeah, probably. Just two weeks until the start of the season and we’re here to help you get through the end of the off-season. This week on Last Word SC Radio, Matt Pollard and Joe Hojnacki talk news and MLS jerseys!
To open, it’s all Designated Players. Freddy Montero is back in MLS, heading to the Vancouver Whitecaps. The guys talk about the move, what it means for Cascadia, and we review some salty Brad Evans tweets. Our good friend Nic Hendrickson shares his views on Montero joining and how he’ll work with Kekuta Manneh.
The boys then talk about NYCFC’s new No. 10 Maxi Moralez. We talk about his role, NYCFC’s system, and what this means for Tommy MacNamara.
In the second segment, we’re talk about more news! Ali Curtis and the New York Red Bulls have agreed to part ways. We talk about how this could have gone down, why it went down, and if there’s more to this for the Red Bulls. Matt puts on his tinfoil hat and talks about this indicating a bigger issue with ownership. Either way, we’re waiting for the tell-all book. Matt and Joe then talk about D.C. United beautiful new stadium and Clint Dempsey returning to training.
In the Round Table, it’s all MLS Jersey talk. We go through every jersey releases do far. We talk about the design and what we think. Spoiler: Matt’s a little underwhelmed by the LA Galaxy #OutOfTheBlue kit and Joe thinks that the Timbers new kit is SO PORTLAND TIMBERS.

On this episode of Last Word SC Radio, Matt sits down with two guests to talk about underdog uprisings in Major League Soccer. In segment one, we have Guillermo Rivera of Fire Confidential on to talk all things Chicago Fire. They talk about the relief of getting a road win and the direction the club is going for the future. Guillermo promptly squashes Matt's hype train of #FireMakeThePlayoffs2016. They do talk about youth development and possible DP signings. Bastian Schweinsteiger as a box-to-box midfielder?
In segment two, Matt brings back an old friend and former co-host, Roger Cleaves. Matt and Rog break down what's been cooking up in Seattle and how Nicholas Lodero has revolutionized the Sounders. They boys talk Cascadia and Ozzie Alonso being a bull in a China Shop. Lastly, Rog gives his take on what the Sounders must do to make the playoffs.
In the Round Table, Matt goes solo to talk about Hope Solo and Richard Chaplow getting suspended for saying bad things.

On this week's episode of Last Word SC, Matt sits down with or colleague and good friend Joe Goldstein. The guys discuss last weekend's New York Red Bulls II match in which Video Assistant Referees (VAR) was used for the first time in USL! Joe gives his take on the technology, how it changed the game, and how it was received. The guys spitball some ideas for how the technology could be altered and implemented league wide from USL to MLS.
In the round table Matt and Joe celebrate MLS Goalkeeper Week by breaking down the current race for Goalkeeper of the Year. Matt even gives his theory about the good vibes voodoo Andre Blake must be getting from Usain Bolt that has him playing on such a high level.
The guys break down the standings and talk about who they think is going to make the playoffs in each conference. To close out the show, we do predictions for the full weekend of MLS games.

On this episode of Last Word SC Matt and Joe break down the shock that was the USWNT losing in the opening knock out round of the Olympics. We lament the loss, but try to make sense of why expectations were a wee bit overblown for our American Ladies.
Then the boys talk about U.S. Open Cup drama and Matt admits that the refs were totally biased in last weekend's game between LA and RBNY.
Joe gives us an update on the CCL Group stage and how the Portland Timbers are going to navigate their schedule. The boys also break down Group C (the one with Sporting KC AND Vancouver Whitecaps).
Lastly, Matt and Joe come up with some creative ideas to improve officiating in American Soccer and do predictions for the weekend matches.

What's up MLS Fam? Matt is joined by LWSC Quakes Writer Daniel Sperry to break down the MLS All Star game and the entire All Star Week in San Jose. Dan waxes poetic about Avaya Stadium and the growth of the game in San Jose and the Bay Area. The two break down the game and how wide open and fun it was. We were kinda bumbed the All Stars lost.
The lads then talk all things San Jose Earthquakes. Dan gives his take on the Quakes midfield, specifically the Panamaniacs. They talk David Bingham and the defensive issues. Dan and Matt then make some bold playoff predictions for San Jose and do some score predictions for the weekend fixtures.

It's the seventh episode of After the Anthem, and Draft season is upon us. The lads preview the Re-Entry draft for all three Canadian teams, and who they should look to pick up during the draft and free agency.
Then it's on to an extended discussion about Canadian soccer. This week Don Garber talked about Canadian roster rules, so the guys discuss how to get Canadians more playing time in Major League Soccer.
Canada's interest in bidding for the 2026 World Cup was also reenforced early this week. The guys debate what a World Cup would mean for Canadian soccer and whether not it is feasible.
Finally, Canada's U-20 women's squad is ripping it up in World Cup qualifiers, but can they get over the final hurdle?

After a long absence the After the Anthem podcast is back with Mitchell Tierney of Waking the Red and Michael Norton of Last Word On Sports.
Since the guys were last on air both the Vancouver Whitecaps and Montreal Impact were eliminated from the Major League Soccer playoffs, so the guys start by breaking down what is next for both of these clubs.
The discussion also centres around roster moves made by both the Vancouver Whitecaps and Toronto FC as the offseason gets underway.
Then it is on to the Canadian men's and women's national teams, who both have qualifiers of their own with multiple storylines.

With Mitchell Tierney of Waking the Red hosting, the lads break down everything in the week that was for Canadian Soccer. Michael Norton of Last Word on Sports sits in the cohost chair and makes several unintended puns.
Speaking of break downs, the boys start of their discuss with a look at Toronto FC's early playoff exit. What went wrong? Who is to blame? All will be answered.... sort of. They also talk about the club's outlook going forward and whether or not keeping Tim Bezbatchenko and Greg Vanney is a good move.
Then it's on to the teams still in the playoff: the Montreal Impact and the Vancouver Whitecaps. Both have a good chance of advancing after their opening legs of the Conference Semi-finals and the guys talk about those who previewing leg 2.
Finally, it's all about the Canadian men's national team as they talk Jonathan Osorio missing out on the Canadian national team once again, and the next Canadian world cup qualifier being shown on TSN>

For the third time in as many weeks the host on After the Anthem changes as, with Arslan Siddiqui still MIA, Last Word on Sport's Michael Norton takes over the hosting duties.
The show starts with decision about MLS decision day, and why it was such a brilliant move for Major League Soccer.
Then it's on to the "biggest" match of decision day, which was the Montreal Impact against Toronto FC. The lads review that before talking at length about their playoff rematch tomorrow.
Vancouver gets some love as well for their incredible performance against Houston on Decision Day, and for being Canada's best hope of the winning the 2015 MLS Cup.
Finally, it's time to take referees as the official for the Canada-Honduras World Cup qualifier in November was replaced, while a familiar face will be officiating the TFC- Impact knockout round game.
