GT4ABL #81: Guests From the BBC, Copa90 and Beesotted Give an Inside Look

September 29th, 2015

It was guests galore on this week's Great Touch For A Big Lad as we were joined on the phone by 'The Hit' presenter Mike Armagon, Copa 90's Eli Mengem, and Beesotted's Dave Lane.

First up Mike presenter of BBC Sports Rugby World Cup show 'The Hit' gave us his thoughts on Rugby, Football and Arsenal. Unless you're a Chelsea fan, what came after that is not to be missed as Mike took on the challenge of "The One Minute Rant!"

Then, following the shock news that statistical Brentford departed with manager Marinus Dijkhuizen, we got the views of Dave Lane from the excellent Beesotted fanzine. Dave gave his insights and views on the state of affairs at Griffin Park, putting right a few rumours and easing Dom's relegation fears along the way.

Finally, Eli Mengem joined us live on the phone. Eli, who has travelled the football world with Copa 90, took part in our brand new game "El YES or El NO!" Posed with all football's key questions and armed with his love of fan culture, his battery lasted JUST long enough to give his opinion on derby days, Aussie Rugby and Lee Cattermole.

Great Touch For A Big Lad is available on iTunes.

Treble Radio 9-23-15: Costa’s Bad Behavior, West Ham Giant Killers

September 26th, 2015

Treble Radio is back after our red card was rescinded and the other guy got suspended! We kick off this week's show by analyzing Chelsea's 2-0 victory over Arsenal. After spending more than enough time agreeing that Diego Costa's behavior was childish and that Gabriel was stupid to fall for antics that everyone saw coming, Eric manages to find a bright spot in the Arsenal performance.

We also review our predictions form last week (Spoiler: we're really bad at them).
Then, we discuss West Ham and their giant killing ways, plus a great statistic on their start to the season. Can they keep it up, or will they fade after Christmas, like last year?
We follow up on this week's Twitter topics (@trebleradio): Should Liverpool sack Brendan Rodgers, and can Rooney and Martial succeed as a striker pair?
The show finishes up with previews of the biggest games coming up this weekend, looking at Manchester City vs Tottenham, surprising Leicester vs. Arsenal, and the "Which Manager Loses His Job First" Derby of Aston Villa vs. Liverpool.
All that and more on this week's Treble Radio.

GT4ABL #79: Sherwood’s Severe Sulking & Chelsea in Crisis?

September 16th, 2015
Great Touch: Available Every Tuesday at 5pm
In the week that Van Gaal admits the 300 million he's spent isn't enough to win the Champions League, we start the show by asking "where's the value in football?"From a Hoover (actually a Dyson) to a set top box, we also discuss our own best value acquisitions!
Next up, in a more emotional part of the show, Irwin talks Chelsea and gives his two penny worth on Jose Mourinho's struggling men. Whilst Irwin is in support of the Portuguese, Miguel tweets in to offer a fascinating opposing opinion. We then discuss the rest of the weekend's actions including Manchester United vs Liverpool and Leicester vs Aston Villa.
Following his post-match interview at the King Power, the gillet wearing sulking Sheerwood sparks off discussion on the worst on/off pitch mood swings in English football. The bad mood then continues as Allcott vents his frustrations on "pet hates" but comfort is found as his opinion is met with unanimous agreement by the lads.
Finally, Craig (STILL grieving from Stoke's loss to West Brom a fortnight ago), asks his weekly question and is left shocked by the rest of the boys' answers.

Treble Radio: Chelsea is Burning, Everton Rising, Luke Shaw, Red Devils over Reds

September 16th, 2015
Treble starts with a tragedy this week as Arslan mourns Liverpool's loss to Manchester United before we jump into the weekend reviews.
We take a look at what has gone wrong for Chelsea so far this season following their loss to Everton, but also talk about Everton's good form. Mourinho's post game comments never go unnoticed, but this week Robert Martinez had some gems, as well. Arsenal pulled off a win as we discuss who would be their perfect striker. City continued their winning streak and picked up three points at Palace. Then, we fully discuss the United - Liverpool clash and all its glory and its shortcomings. Leicester stole the show with their amazing comeback victory over Aston Villa
Champions League started back up! City lost, United lost, and we all wish Luke Shaw a speedy recovery.
The big match ups of next weekend are previewed and we look at the results of our predictions from last week and learn that we don't learn much, but we sure have fun.
