Treble Radio: Derby Day In Depth, Yedlin’s Rise, Previews, and Predictions

October 29th, 2015
This week on Treble Radio, our predictions from last week are put to the test. We start with the Manchester Derby.  Who could have (should have) scored the winning goal? Why was it such a snooze fest? What is going on with Wayne Rooney? Is he ever going to play like a king or is he going to spend time on the bench with a hoodie on?
West Ham crushed a Chelsea in chaos.  Is Jose Mourinho trying to get sacked? Everyone at Chelsea seems to have lost their mind, but we may have as well.
Arsenal beat Everton in the rain and Ozil was so on point that it can't even be described.
A player who's on point and can be described is DeAndre Yedlin.  His Sunderland played better in the derby on Sunday against Newcastle, but they're still in the bottom three.
We set a high bar for our predictions next weekend.  We look to Chelsea v Liverpool, United v Palace, Tottenham v Aston Villa (because no Sherwood!), and finally, how many goals will Leicester score against West Brom?

After The Anthem Episode #4: Decision Day, Knockout Round and Kitty FIFA

October 28th, 2015

For the third time in as many weeks the host on After the Anthem changes as, with Arslan Siddiqui still MIA, Last Word on Sport's Michael Norton takes over the hosting duties.

The show starts with decision about MLS decision day, and why it was such a brilliant move for Major League Soccer.
Then it's on to the "biggest" match of decision day, which was the Montreal Impact against Toronto FC. The lads review that before talking at length about their playoff rematch tomorrow.
Vancouver gets some love as well for their incredible performance against Houston on Decision Day, and for being Canada's best hope of the winning the 2015 MLS Cup.
Finally, it's time to take referees as the official for the Canada-Honduras World Cup qualifier in November was replaced, while a familiar face will be officiating the TFC- Impact knockout round game.

GT4ABL #84:Managerial do and dont’s, the ridiculous FIFA presidency candidate’s. And a special guest looking ahead to the Brentford QPR derby.

Following his unsuccessful spell at Aston Villa we reflect on what when wrong for Tim Sherwood, we also look at some other managerial do and don’ts. Find out what position in world football the likes of ‘Naked’ ‘The Prince’ and ‘Sexwhale’ are applying for (yes they are real names). And finally we catch up with Clive Whittingham from the excellent QPR fan site ‘Loft for Words’ to discuss the upcoming West London derby, Brentford v QPR. Great Touch for a Big lad, touching on all things serious and silly in football.

Treble Radio: Premier League Prediction Special

October 22nd, 2015

In a special preview edition of Treble Radio, we turn our predictive powers toward the upcoming weekend in the Premiership. Sores, standouts, and storylines. First we look at the Manchester Derby. Will United stay in form? Will City be able to cope without Sergio Aguero? We turn our attention toward the Boleyn Ground and ask if West Ham, giant killers on the road, can continue their fast start and top Chelsea at home. Everton visits an Arsenal squad coming off a massive victory over Bayern Munich, and Southampton faces Liverpool in Klopp's first Premier League game at Anfield. We preview all those games and give our always wonderful predictions of man of the match and final score.

If you missed our previous show, be sure to go back and listen, as we had Dave Hendrick from Anfield Index on to talk Jurgen Klopp and the future of Liverpool.

After the Anthem Episode #3: The 401 Derby, The Falling Whitecaps and TV Broadcast Rights for Trees

October 21st, 2015

With Arslan Siddiqui unavailable for a mysterious reason, Mitchell Tierney of Waking the Red takes over the hosting job as he and Michael Norton recap the week in Canadian Soccer.

Things start with an impromptu discussion about who is the Arnold Schwarzenegger of Major League Soccer ahead of MLS Judgement day... err Decision Day. This then bleeds into talk about the biggest match of that day: the Montreal Impact vs. Toronto FC. At the end of it, one of the two will host a playoff game for the first time in their history.
The same could be true of the Vancouver Whitecaps if they break out of their current slump. The guys preview their last match of the season against the Houston Dynamo, and whether or not they think the Caps are a threat in the playoffs.
Then it is on to the Canadian national team, where the lads discuss how important it is that the next round of World Cup qualifying be shown on mainstream Canadian TV.

Treble Radio 10-20-15: Dave Hendrick Discusses Klopp’s Debut, Liverpool’s Future

October 20th, 2015

Jurgen Klopp and Sam Allardyce made their season debut's this past weekend, and we're debuting our first guest of the year. Dave Hendrick, from Anfield Index's podcast "Happy Hour," joins Treble Radio this week to talk about Liverpool's new manager. He tells us what he thought of Klopp's debut, Liverpool's future with Klopp, and more. Plus, does he think Klopp's high energy tactics will be a problem for a team that's fairly injury prone. We spend far too much time talking about Big Sam's debut as Sunderland manager, that is to say, we mention it.

The big debate this week is Mesut Ozil vs Juan Mata. Who is the better player and who would you rather have in your side? The answers may surprise you.

Join Arslan, Laura, and Eric every week as we discuss the latest in Premier League happenings.

Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Laura was trained from birth to be a Nebraska Cornhusker Football fan. Unlike most Huskers, her dad played soccer and introduced her to that sport as well, which understandably stole her heart. Laura’s love for the Spice Girls and Harry Potter carried her love for soccer across the Atlantic to a team not unlike her Huskers, Manchester United. They were once great and believe they can be again, but it hasn’t really happened yet. Laura is also a fan of the MLS team Sporting Kansas City.

Eric Walcott is a Legislative Assistant in the Michigan House of Representatives by day, and a soccer fan 24/7. He’s played soccer his whole life and now covers MLS, Portland Timbers, and Arsenal for LWOS. Eric helped start the supporters group Sons of Ransom for NPSL club Lansing United because there’s nothing quite like standing in the crowd and supporting your local team every weekend. 4th place might not be a trophy, but THE FA CUP SURELY IS!

Treble Radio host, Arslan Siddiqui, is a Canadian who does not speak many languages, but he has definitely specialized in the language of the beautiful game. When his grasp of the language isn’t strong enough, he (tries) to substitute it with comedy. He is a Liverpool fan who started the ‘Anfield Alive’ column on Last Word On Sports, where he provides commentary and opinion on everything Liverpool and Premier League related. A university student and a young adult, he promises to provide entertainment and (a little bit of) knowledge!
